Product Description
Protectmyid.com™ provides a complete program for
identity theft protection. One way it does this is by providing
daily email alerts after reviewing your credit report on all three credit bureaus each day. This service lets you know everything is ok or if and issue comes
up. This is a marked difference from only checking your credit
report once a year. Essentially, they will alert you of a potential
problem in situations like new accounts opened in your name, new applications for credit, address changes,
public record changes, and potentially negative information on your credit files.
Then, they also have a service
called CardSafe™ which reimburses for any money that is spent on your cards while they are
stolen. In addition, they also provide a 1 million dollar
guarantee in the case your identity is stolen. Not to mention,
they give you a free Experian credit report.
Benefits
- Provide daily alerts on the status of your
account.
- Company is under the umbrella of Experian which is one of the 3
credit bureaus.
- Currently, offer a free 30 day trial offer.
Drawbacks
- Daily alerts of the status of your account may be viewed as an
inconvenience after awhile.
- No distinct advantage over other products in the
field.
- Concern of what impact constant daily check of your credit reports
may have on your credit score.
Customer Comments
- None found for this service.
Personal Review
This company offers a good basic
service that is certainly better than nothing in terms of Identity theft protection. The daily alerts will be viewed as a bonus by some and an annoyance by other
prospective customers. One challenge about identity theft
protection is that is hidden and you only see it when something bad comes up. This can lead some people to downgrade its value or wonder if it is even
working as they need to see it to believe it. For those in this
camp, ProtectMyID® could be a good service. However, for my money I
would suggest looking at one of the companies like Lifelock which provides you covered protection from the start
instead of alerting you when an issue arises.
