Product Description 

Identity Guard ® Total Protection plan offers protection in four areas: credit, computer, internet, and on the go.   

Credit protection occurs through the company monitoring credit applications that were fraudulently made with your personal information, daily review of credit report and sending email alerts of changes to you directly, and providing quarterly updates on all three of your credit reports.   

Computer protection occurs by providing you with antivirus, anti-spyware, and firewall software for your computer.  You can also get encryption software to hide your keystrokes for further protection.  This services is called PrivacyProtect®. 

Internet protection occurs by the company monitoring databases where thieves trade personal information, using internet scanning software to see if your social security number, credit card numbers, or other information are being used by thieves, and looks at public records information to ensure information is not changed and is accurate. 

On the go protection occurs with laptops and other portable devices by providing additional software to protect your information on these devices.  There is also a lost wallet protection service which even gives you access to $2,000 in emergency cash. 

The IdentityGuard ® service is free for the first month and then $14.99 per month. 

Benefits

Drawbacks 

• Service offers some items that most customers will already have offering little extra value (ex. antivirus and firewall protection).

• Several negative reviews on consumer credit forums although these are from over 5 years ago.

Personal Review 

Service offering is very comprehensive which is nice to have looking at it initially.  However, after looking at the service more closely, it does not really provide any true benefits.  Services like antivirus software are nice except most people already have these available.  In addition, some negative reviews by users who have switched to other companies makes me nervous.  For this reason, I would look at other companies first.  However, if you would like to learn more about this company’s offerings, here is a link to their site: www.identityguard.com.
